I have over 30 years of experience in design and management, and have been an Oxford resident for about as long. At the weekend you will find me building the odd boat or looking for rapids to test the latest canoe.

I make sure that our business ideals and standards are maintained – I steer the ship to make sure that our clients are happy with the service they are being provided.

Bio

I’ve been a Wallingford resident for 20 years and I’m actively involved in the community. When I’m not taking my children to various clubs you’ll find me building my own self-build or running.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

We don’t just talk the talk, we are always trying to better our service for our clients. We are a member of NaCSBA and I am a regular expert for Build It Magazine both in print and at their shows. This helps me to keep in touch with what real clients are feeling, and relate that back to the team at lapd to make sure we are addressing the real challenges that our clients are facing. It is this genuine care for our clients that make us stand out as a team.

How would you sum up your job?

I’m committed to great design based around our client’s vision. I make sure that we communicate designs to our clients effectively and guide them through the whole journey, filtering the noise to keep them in control of their project.

Yolandi Evans, Associate

Bio

I joined lapd in 2013 and have extensive experience across a wide variety of projects, specialising in concept & design development and project management. I have built my own house in South Africa and I have completed a self-build locally.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, walking and playing hockey.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

I really enjoy the variety of interesting projects I have found myself working on. I also enjoy being involved in all aspects of the process, from conception through to completion.
Even though the office is generally very busy, we still manage to have a relaxed atmosphere with flexibility and great team comradery.
The main thing that distinguishes lapd from other architects is our focus on client care and going the extra mile to make the client’s journey special. We always produce something that both us and our clients can be proud of at the end of the process.

How would you sum up your job?

I listen to our clients and help them to realise their dreams.

I joined lapd in 2016 and live just outside of Oxford. I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

The office always approaches a challenge with excitement, working together to find a solution. The variety of work we do makes each week different to the last – always working to keep the client at the centre of what we do.

I create uncompromising and innovative design rooted firmly in the client’s brief and vision.

Bio

I joined lapd in July 2019 and have completed my professional exams to qualify as an Architect while working here. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and some art projects in-between.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

The practice is very client-oriented, focusing on tailoring the design process on each individual project for every client. This means every day differs from the last, bringing along its own set of challenges and rewards. I really enjoy working alongside our dedicated team in providing our client’s goals.

I help our team in providing a unique service for each of our clients’ needs and dreams, including visual renders of proposals to high quality standard.

Bio

I joined lapd in 2018.  I am kept busy with my two baby boys and chasing around after our two house rabbits. When time allows, I love catching up with friends and family over a good meal.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

As a non-Architect, I am learning every day about the industry. What struck me most upon starting at lapd Architects was the emphasis on teamwork, everyone working collaboratively and sharing ideas. It’s definitely a welcoming and creative workplace that puts people and everyday living at the heart of every project.

How would you sum up your job?

I am the first point of contact for our clients, and I love to find out about their potential projects and explain how we can help them to realise their dream homes.

Tung Li, Architect

Bio

I have lived in the UK since 2017 and gained a 1st Class Honours degree from University of Greenwich.  I also have a MArch from the Architectural Association School of Architecture. I joined lapd in 2023 as an Architectural Assistant and while at the practice, I completed Part 3 professional exams to qualify as an architect.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

The practice brings cutting-edge yet realistic thought and design. We believe Architects should think and act outside the box, and therefore keep on trying different innovative technologies such as VR, Point Cloud Surveying and 3D printing in the company.

How would you sum up your job?

I assist the team to create space in response to clients’ needs. We visualise their dreams and translate them into a realistic building.

Amber Whetter – BA(Hons) MArch

Bio

I completed my Architecture degree in 2018 at Liverpool John Moores University and worked for a multi-national practice specialising in education architecture. I took my Master of Architecture at the University of the West of England and gained my qualification in 2021 during the peak of covid. I then went on to work for a commercial practice for 3 years, gaining experience working on a variety of projects ranging from large scale residential masterplans, hotels, restaurants, heritage buildings and one-off houses. Finally moving to work for LAPD Architects at the end of 2024.
In my spare time I enjoy playing hockey and creating bespoke watercolour and ink building portraits.

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

The whole team works closely and collaboratively together to design buildings which are simultaneously visually aesthetic, ambitious, and achievable.

How would you sum up your job?

I assist the team to bring clients’ architectural aspirations to life through working up designs and creating drawing packs.

Nasr Yassin – Architectural Assistants

Bio

Nas studied in Scotland, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Studies and an MArch in Advanced Architectural Design from the University of Strathclyde. He also holds a BSc in Interior Design.

Nas has worked in practices in the UK and internationally, gaining experience across a wide range of architectural sectors and projects, including large-scale residential developments, hotels, care homes and listed buildings.

He is currently studying for his Part 3 professional examinations at Kingston University to become a qualified architect.

Matt Higgins – BArch MArch

Bio

Originally from Cornwall, I started doing construction work of all kinds from an early age. Seeking to design as well as build, I started my formal architectural education at Oxford Brookes in 2018. I have a wealth of hands-on experience from hand digging foundations to gardening, all of which I pull into my design work. In my own time, I am forever finding new hobbies to explore (although nature photography is definitely my favourite).

What is different about working at lapd Architects?

Having previously worked in large practices, I love the bespoke, client-focussed approach to design that LAPD offers. Every design is unique and wouldn’t look the same or as good without client input. As a place to work, it’s very comfortable with a great atmosphere and fun colleagues to work alongside.

My job is to transform the sketches we create with clients into fully realised designs. Every step is a team effort though, ensuring we create the optimum solutions for our clients.

Ana Volkova – Architectural Assistant

Bio

Ana has completed her MArchD at Oxford Brookes University with Distinction. Her work is driven by narrative, sustainability and human experience.

She has contributed to projects ranging from bespoke private homes to small-scale developments, combining strong design skill with attention to detail. A recipient of the RIBA Part 2 Bursary and the Reginald W Cave Prize, Ana brings a thoughtful, human-centred approach to design.

Outside of work, Ana enjoys a good book and countryside walks with lots of time spent sketching the scenery.
