The developers wanted to take this vacant plot in Old Headington, owned by a local brewery, and turn it into a high end five bedroom residential property.

They knew they wanted a striking contemporary design, but at the same time understood how important it was to remain in keeping, in both scope and aesthetic, with the surrounding area.

The design finally settled on was a modern façade from the curb side viewpoint, utilising powder coated aluminium, cedar boarding and Corallian limestone to reflect the materials found in the local streetscape.

This public frontage concealed a large development, the bulk of which was designed to remain beneath ground level. An internal basement courtyard floods this subterranean element with natural day light.

The design accentuates these unique multi-layered living spaces, whilst also accommodating for the long and thin plot. The careful consideration of outside spaces includes the sedum green roof and accompanying timber pergola.
